There have been two studies conducted. Both showed

who have not. The most significant study, with the most compatible comparison
groups showed the Virginia CARES group receiving a 3.4 percent new felony conviction while the non-participant group showed a new felony conviction rate
of 11.9 percent. A new felony conviction almost always results in
re-incarceration.
