 How is Virginia CARES Funded? 
Virginia CARES receives its funding through the Virginia General Assembly administration by Virginia Department Of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS).

 Does that mean Virginia CARES is a state agency...? 
No, Virginia CARES is a non-profit self-incorporated Community Action Agency governed by a Board of Directors.

 What is the recidivism rate of Virginia CARES...? 
There have been two studies conducted.  Both showed a significant difference in the recidivism rate of those participating in Virginia Cares as opposed to those who have not.  The most significant study, with the most compatible comparison groups showed the Virginia CARES group receiving a 3.4 percent new felony conviction while the non-participant group showed a new felony conviction rate of 11.9 percent.  A new felony conviction almost always results in re-incarceration.

 Does your recidivism rate save taxpayers dollars ... ? 
Yes, it is estimated that every dollar allocated to Virginia CARES, saves the taxpayer 10 dollars.

 Does Virginia CARES provide monetary assistance...? 
No,  There is only a small amount of money used to leverage funds to pay for certain services such as housing, food, clothing.

 How many inmates does the Commonwealth of Virginia release each year...? 
Over 10,000 per year.
